Soon (graduating)

Yesterday my grad piece became officially complete! After a couple weeks of not being at school at all, I went in yesterday to supervise the final tweaks to my piece for the grad show. It was strange being there with all the halls quiet and empty. Stranger still because I feel like I have been in a different world since classes ended (one without classes). But now, in less than two days, I will be graduating!

Smaller works

So instead of always working on huge site specific installations I decided to experiment with some smaller, more self contained works.They definitly are not as time consuming, but now I have to decide if they are true to my concept.

So after much experimenting during the semester, this is the final product. The materials are ordinary building supplies and the imagery is drawn from geometric Islamic designs. The concept behind this piece is that through the contrast of materials, the ordinary becomes transformed into the sublime, as well as acting as a trigger, creating an atmosphere of contemplation and a rethinking of the space, motifs and materials.
