Bio

My name is Sarah Hooge, and I am originally from Vancouver, BC. After earning my diploma of Fine Arts at Langara College (2009) in Vancouver, I transferred to the Alberta College of Art + Design in Calgary, Alberta, where I am currently a fourth year painting major. I am on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May 2012, which I am very excited about. My time at the Alberta College of Art + Design has been highly beneficial to the development of my practise, providing many opportunities to push my work further. Upon completion of my degree I intend to return to the Vancouver area and set up my artistic practise.

A major theme that runs through my work is an interest in pattern and repetition. I am currently working with interlaced Islamic geometric designs as my inspiration which I combine with industrial materials to create a screen of geometric shapes through which the world must be viewed.
